Laminated Glass Sculpture, signed, circa 1980s. Signed on the base 'Elias', the solid laminated glass with bright colors between the laminations, the inclusions fired on enamels. Bohumil Elias was born in 1937 in what is now known as the Czech Repiblic. In 1954, he attended the Glassmaking School, in Zelezny Brod, Czechoslovakia. Upon completion of his studies there, he attended the Applied Arts College in Prague from 1957 to 1963. Over his lifetime, the artist was represented at tens of galleries and museums, most notably the Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, Germany (1973), Waldstein Palais,in Prague (1984), Musee des Arts Decoratifs, in Paris (1989), and Gallery Yamaha, in Tokyo, Japan (1990). His artwork can be found in the collections of the Musee des Arts Decoratif de la Ville de Lausanne in Switzerland, the National Gallery in Prague, The Amsterdam Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, amongst many others.
