SCHEIBE, RICHARD Chemnitz 1879 - 1964 Heracles. 1959. Bronze, light brown patinated. 47 x 12,5 x 12,5 cm. Monogrammed on the plinth: R. Sch.. As well as foundry mark on the edge of the plinth: H. NOACK BERLIN. One of 4 known copies. On stone base. Provenance: Atelier of the artist Collection Schunk, Pirmasens (acquired directly from the artist) Private collection, Rhineland-Palatinate (received as a gift from Mr Schunk) The bronze casting present is one of four known lifetime-castings, which were manufactured between 1959 and 1963. In the casting books of the foundry Noack, Berlin the sculpture is also listed under the title "Stehender Junge mit erhobenem Arm" ("Standing Boy with Raised Arm"). The plaster model as well as one of the four castings are situated at the Georg Kolbe Museum, Berlin. We would like to thank Carolin Jahn, Georg Kolbe Museum Berlin, for the kind scientific support.
