Exceptional gilded Lao wooden Buddha in Calling the Earth Mudra. This piece probably originated in a temple or a palace as evidenced by the extended base that would have fit into a much larger frame. The craftsmanship is extraordinary compared to the vast majority of gilded images from Laos and was probably . Near perfect condition with only minor wear to the gilding. 9.5 inches, excluding base; 12.5 inches with base.
