PAN Tianshou (1897-1971) PAN Tianshou was born in Ninghai, in Zhejiang province. He studied Chinese painting and built the foundation of the Chinese traditional painting education. After PAN Tianshou's initial enthusiasm for painting and calligraphy, he decided to devote himself entirely to Chinese art. In the spring of 1923 he began working as a teacher at the Shanghai art school. A year later he became a professor and began to write the book 'The History of Chinese Painting', which was published in 1926. In the same year he co-founded the Shanghai Xinhua art school. Numerous works and exhibition bear witness to PAN Tianshou's impressive creative period. Condition: The work is in good condition with slight signs of wear such as small spots in the mounting and creases here and there. The left handle is slightly loose and the ribbon of the mounting is torn. The total dimensions are 245 x 64 cm and the image size is c. 179 x 49 cm.
