Wonderful William & Mary sterling silver oval tobacco box, circa 1691. This stunning box has an oval profile, and a pull off lid beautifully engraved with a shield of three stags heads over three birds, topped with a knights helmet and a birds head couped, finished will ornate foliate work. The top and bottom edges are bordered with a twisted frame, and the reverse of the box is unadorned. The maker is unascribed, as it is too early to be William Spackman.
