Clear and turquoise tinted glass Murano, Italy, 1960 Design: Antonio da Ros (b. 1936) – Italian glass artist Execution: Cenedese, Murano, - founded in 1946 Acid-etched factory mark on the base ‘Cenedese‘ and factory decal Freely shaped, stylized head of a tucan Dimensions: approx. 19 x 23 x 9 cm Very good condition Working for the Italian glassmakers Vetreria Gino Cenedese in Murano, Antonio da Ros is well-known for his characterful glass animals, which he produced in a wide range of shapes and colors. This turquoise example is typical of his work – solid glass masses with color shades and bubbles. Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 8,000 Euro Condition: The glass object is in very good condition with normal scratches to the base. The dimensions are approximately 19 x 23 x 9 cm (height x width x depth). Cenedese (est. 1946) Gino Cenedese founded his own glassworks in 1946. Until 1950 he worked primarily with the master Alfredo Barbini; afterwards, Antonio da Ros was responsible for the production in his function as artistic director. Further important designers of the factory were Fulvio Bianconi, Riccardo Licata and Ermanno Nason, who implemented designs of Marc Chagall and Georges Braque. Cenedese produced pieces for the market with traditional shapes in bright colors; on the other hand it created objects with reference to contemporary art.
