(BLACK PANTHERS.) Group of 7 Huey Newton rally fliers plus a bumper sticker. Oakland, CA, circa May-July 1968 7 photocopied fliers, letter or legal size, plus one bumper sticker; folds, minor wear. 4 of the fliers are for a barbeque rally and demonstration on 14 and 15 July [1968]. One is legal-sized and double sided, with "Free Huey" text on one side and "Tried by a Jury of His Peers" artwork by Lisa Lyons on the other. One is legal-sized and double sided, folding to 4 pages, featuring the Panther logo on front, "No More Murders, Free Huey Now" artwork by Lisa Lyons at rear, and "Huey Newton, Political Prisoner" text on the center pages. One is headed "Free Huey Demonstration" on letter-sized stock, and also notes a rally and meeting on 8 July. The fourth is headed "Free Huey Bar-B-Que & Rally" on letter-sized stock, illustrated with the famous image of Newton in a fan-backed chair. Also included: "Vigil at Merritt Park near courthouse to begin when the jury goes out, thurs or fri," on letter stock, illustrated with image of Newton behind bars. "Monday 7:30 Free Huey Mass Meeting," on pink letter stock, illustrated with portrait of Newton. "Come See About Huey, May Day . . . Mass Rally," on blue legal stock, illustrated with double portraits of Newton. Bumper sticker, "Justice for Huey," 3½ x 12¼ inches, on blue stock, illustrated with portrait of Newton, produced by Emory's Printing and Graphics.
