작품 상세

Men's Vicuna Poncho, Altiplano, Dept. of La Paz, 18th C. Vicuña fiber is renowned for its incredibly fine diameter of just 12 microns (um), making it even finer than the best cashmere (which measures around 15 microns (um). Vicuña is also finer than the other camelid fibers: Guanaco, Alpaca, and Llama. This rare finely woven and handsomely finished poncho is composed of hand selected tan color fibers from the animal’s body, and white color fibers from the chest that were used for the pattern striping. The neck opening is lined with a decorative striped edging, that terminates in a butterfly shaped reinforcement. Acquired in the field by a prominent collector consigned directly from their collection. 4'5'' x 4'3'' (135 x 130 cm)
