Aymara Men's Ceremonial Ponchito, Dept. of La Paz, c. 1900. Alpaca. A small poncho worn by a male leader of Aymara ritual. This one loom panel garment uses discontinuous wefts to open a slit in the center of the textile through which the wearerâs head is inserted. Note the wear at each end of the opening where the textile receives the most stress. Extensive reweaving. 2'9'' x 3'3'' (84 x 99 cm)
