Aymara Woman's Ahuayo Festival Mantle, Llallagua, Dept. of Potosi, c. 19th C. Alpaca. A woman’s heirloom festival mantle with a lovely purple field color created by the association of red, blue and purple warps in alternating fashion. The Aymara female artist seeks to apply her subtle creativity in order to achieve local prestige inside of the strictures of village identification norms. Three color ribete and areas of reweave. 3'6'' x 3'7'' (107 x 109 cm)
