Ca. 550 - 400 BC A collection of bichrome pottery vessels, including: three jugs, each with a globular body, short neck and broad flat everted rim, with a high vertical strap handle rising from the rim, decorated in red and dark brown with encircling bands and panels of simple linear and geometric motifs; and a kyathos with a broad shallow rounded bowl, fitted with a tall vertical handle terminating in stylised horn-like projections, the body ornamented with horizontal bands and radiating strokes above the lower body. Size: 130-225mm x 175-195mm; Weight: 3.45kg. Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of S Vanhoutte, Brussels 1990’s.
