Ca. AD 600 - 700 A pottery incantation bowl of shallow conical form with a slightly rounded base. The interior is painted in dark slip with a central cross with arms extending towards the sides, enclosed by three concentric bands of cursive Aramaic inscription running around the inner wall, the exterior plain. Size: 70mm x 190mm; Weight: 400g. Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Japan; previously in 1970s Japanese collection.
