Ca. AD 1600 - 1800 A horse chamfron formed as a single plate with a rounded crown, a long tapering face, and prominent circular bosses projecting at the sides to protect the eyes. The edges are pierced with a series of small holes for fastening. The exterior is silver-inlaid with an epigraphic band around the crown, a large central cartouche of calligraphy, and dense foliate scrollwork filling the field, with tendrils on the bosses and along the margins. Size: 480mm x 245mm; Weight: 925g. Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1990s on the UK / International art markets.
