Ca. AD 1600 - 1800 A horse chamfron of faceted outline with a broad crown, a pronounced median ridge running down the face, and lateral cutaways, the perimeter pierced with attachment holes. The exterior is inlaid with a calligraphic panel at the crown and a series of cartouches and medallions on the face and flanks. Size: 500mm x 235mm; Weight: 955g. Provenance: From the private collection of an Oxford gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1990s on the UK / International art markets.
