Black History "Aunt Jemima's Pancake Flour" Graphics Wooden Sign made from an Aunt Jemima's Pancake Flour Box / Crate c. Early 1900s, "Aunt Jemima's Pancake Flour" Wooden Sign with nice graphics, apparently made from an original wood shipping crate, measurements are 22" wide x 10" tall, Fine or better. This scarce Black History related is sign made from a wooden crate panel for Aunt Jemima brand pancake flour, featuring a wonderful graphic image of the early style Aunt Jemima character. All racial groups have been caricatured in this country, but none have been caricatured as often or in as many ways as have black Americans. The early wooden crate for Aunt Jemima brand pancake flour features was a powerful and impressive advertising message. This example has good color and a nice natural patina with some weathering and general scattered wear from use to give it a great original "folksy" country look as shown. As we correctly attributed this current example, the panels indeed make for great looking hanging sign, now reinforced on its reverse to hold a display mounting wire. The Aunt Jemima brand was retired in 2021 due to its racist origins and is now sold as Pearl Milling Company. We ship what we sell.
