Black History "WHITE" / "COLORED" Double-Sided Solid Golden Brass Embossed Segregation Sign likely used on a Bus or Train c. 1940 This Heavy Brass Metal Sign has only one word on each side: "WHITE" and "COLORED" for Black Segregation purposes, measuring 12" wide x 6" tall, black print on gold-gilt metal with a black outer trim, Used, Fine. This original Metal Segregation Sign has wear from use. The display is very durable and heavy with the wording and border slightly embossed and painted in black. Most probably used on a southern transportation system such as a bus or train, etc. A 5" circle of deeper golden color suggests this sign was adhered such that the "WHITE" side was more prominent. Another important tangible item to demonstrate the history of segregation in certain parts of America. We ship what we sell.
