His work is recognised for its refined composition and meticulous use of rarrk (cross-hatching), a sacred and formalised painting tradition that conveys the spiritual energy and ancestral presence inherent in each subject. Maranbarra's bark paintings depict the spirits, stories, and totemic symbols connected to his clan Country.
