The composition depicts the ancestral beings Mudungurr (saratoga fish), Djalumburr (catfish), Dhumby (long tom fish), Leagunyul or Gurrurpil (short-necked turtle), and Burrumbu (freshwater weed). Surrounding these totemic creatures is Gurrurmunggumunggu, the water python that feeds on flying fox. Dividing the painting is a freshwater creek, within which the file snake Djakung has made its nest in the bank and laid its eggs, Galangga.
