He was mentored by the legendary Yirawala, one of the most influential artists of his time. Bardkadubbu's work is noted for its strong connection to ancestral stories and traditional clan designs, which he translated onto bark with great skill and sensitivity. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Bardkadubbu's paintings featured in several landmark exhibitions that helped bring Aboriginal bark art to wider national and international attention. His contributions were vital in shaping the understanding and appreciation of Arnhem Land's rich artistic traditions.
