JJ0506169 titled and dated on Niagara Galleries label verso 122 x 61.5cm PROVENANCE: Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd, Alice Springs, Northern Territory (accompanied by a certificate of authenticity) Superannuation Fund of William Nuttall and Annette Reeves, Melbourne Private collection, Melbourne OTHER NOTES: This painting depicts designs associated with the rockhole site of Wirrulnga, slightly east of the Kiwirrkurra in Western Australia. In mythological times, a large group of Tingari men visited this site after travelling from further west and passing through the Kiwirrkurra area. They later continued east to Tarkul near Mount Webb and then north to Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay).
