In this painting, Robin Kankapankatja tells a story of his country and homeland. The Walalkara community is situated 65 kilometres south west of Kaltjiti and also home to the largest group of reptile species in Australia. Depicting wildflowers, trees, sandhills and creeks the artist weaves reptile imagery in with the landmarks of his homeland. "In his naive, fresh style, he tells the story of his land. An expert tracker, Robin has an intimate knowledge of the animals and plants. He creates maps of his country with an easy sense of space and openness. Robin's art combines a fine eye for detail with an eagle's overview of his country." - Kaltjiti Arts Centre
