Wood Mali, Dogon people Expressive carving Maße: 48.5 x approx. 10 cm (height x width) This wood sculpture from Mali was made by a carver from the Dogon people. It shows a stylized naked woman, sitting on a small stool. Her upper body and the arms are slightly too long for the rest of her body. Her face shows a more detailed treatment and her hair forms sort of a comb. Her breasts are pointing towards the beholder, an indication, that this figure was used as a fertility figure. The sculpture has traces of age and use. It has major material losses on the base and the figure. The measurements are 48.5 x approx. 10 cm (height x width).
