Rare "Headwaters of the Juniata," Medium Blue Transfer-Printed Platter, Attributed to Ralph Stevenson or Ralph Stevenson & Williams, 1810-1835. Unrecorded view, the rim surrounded by a floral border of morning glories, roses, poppies and daffodils, interrupted at the top by a displayed eagle and within a block chain and star edge, unmarked. H: 14.75 in., W: 18.875 in., D: 1.25 in. Literature: The view on the offered lot is nearly identical to that produced by William Adams, except one man is in the stream as opposed to crossing the bridge. The attribution is based on the edge border, which the Arman's refer to as the "Star and Flute Border Series." It was used by both the Stevenson's and Enoch Wood & Sons on three Erie Canal views, illustrated in David and Linda Arman, "Anglo-American Ceramic Cup Plates: Transfer-Printed with Views of the Americas and the Literary Series - Part I," p. 27.
