Washington Related "WASHINGTON IN GLORY" / 15-Star U.S. Flag Sailing Ship Historical Liverpool Memorial Creamware Pitcher c. 1800, Historical Liverpool Memorial Creamware Pitcher with "WASHINGTON IN GLORY / AMERICA IN TEARS" and a 15-Star United States Flag Sailing Ship black transfers, Very Fine. A scarce design and size George Washington Memorial Liverpool Pitcher measuring 7" tall with transfer of "Washington in Glory America in Tears" on one side and a Sailing Ship flying a 15-Star American Flag on the other. George Washinton's portrait is displayed at center facing left with his birth and death dates listed below his image and above his 3-Star Personal Seal. The 15-Star American flag was for addition of Vermont and Kentucky into the Union on July 4th, 1795. Clean and having no breaks just a fine repaired crack at the left side of the spout. The clear high-flying flag is boldly presented above the ship and there is some expected even wear to the transfers from use. Three shallow chips to the base rim which are not distracting and nearly invisible. Of special note, the 15-Star American Flag was the flag design that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the "Star Spangled Banner" during the battle of Fort McHenry at Baltimore Harbor during the War of 1812.
