Large Art Nouveau vase. 1892-1900. pottery. Silk matt, lustrous glaze. Luscious painting decor with a southern landscape at sunset, pine trees and birds. H. 60 cm. Inscribed on the bottom: Dominique Zumbo arenes Fréjus Var (brush writing). Dominique Zumbo learned his craft from Clement Massier in Vallauris in 1879, where he worked with artistic luster glazes and effects. In 1892 he founded his own workshop in Fréjus and developed individual decors and techniques in this genre. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 he received a gold medal.
