Eight Vintage Mid Century Rosenthal Porcelain Bele Bachem (1916-2005) three-cornered, oval form Dessert Plates. Decorated with various overglazed paintings. Ground with a green Rosenthale backstamp used from 1934-1956 and signed by "Bele Bachem". Each plate 7.50x7.75x1". All in good condition. Weight on all 8 pds 3 oz. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate. Bele Bachem was one of the most versatile artists of the 20th Century. She was a painter, sculptress, stage and costume designer, as well as an author. She belongs to the major German female artists of the 20th century. Born in Dusseldorf in 1916, her career really only took off after World War 2. She became well known for her work on film posters and book illustrations. Her collaboration with Rosenthal began in 1951, and she worked on numerous designs right up to the early years of this century. Bele Bachem died in Munich in 2005.
