A WESTERN APACHE PICTORIAL BASKET TRAY Western United States, Arizona, c. 1900. Of circular form, with shallow, rounded sides gently tapering to a flat base. Finely woven of willow, devil’s claw, and yucca root, decorated with a large five-pointed star at the center of the composition, with the cavetto ornamented with a lattice of radiating geometric motifs, which are also visible on the exterior surface of the tray. Provenance: From The Sam and Myrna Myers Collection, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and natural imperfections. Some of the braided fibers fractured and slightly abraded along the rim.
