Pacific Northwest Hamatsa Dance Rattle by Douglas David (First Nations, b. 1971). In the Hamatsa dance ceremony is one of the most important in Kwakwakaâwakw tradition, in which members of the sacred Hamatsa society perform dances that narrate tales of the cannibalistic giant from the north end of the world, Baxbakwalanuksiweâ. Douglas David was born in Seattle, Washington and is the son of renowned First Nations artist Joe David.
