According to Saks Galleries, one of the fine art galleris that represents Elliott, "Ken is a colorist with the landscape as the focus of interest. His works are not portraits of places but scenes that are subjected to abstraction - still recognizable but infused with colors and values beyond the normal. For over 25 years he has explored his landscape themes, subjecting them to dramatic extremes of light and color combinations that are richly stimulating and at times poetic. His works are direct, showing the lessons of the Impressionist as well as Modern schools, working primarily in oils and pastels." What's more, the following artist's statement demonstrates Elliott's penchant for abstraction and expressionism: "The paintings I create are rarely portraits of places but rather, they are investigations into color and composition. My goal is to create something more remarkable and outside the familiar scene. To do that, many ideas and moves are used to alter nature in exaggerated, but somehow believable ways. If successful, what emerges is art that is expressive, apart from the everyday and filled with life and joyfully, II never tire of chasing that goal."
