Carole Roberts American, b. 1940 Mixed media on board Unsigned. Two (2) chest length portraits, colorfully painted on formed Styrofoam and board, framed. Carole S. Roberts is an abstract expressionist artist and jeweler. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Ohio State University and a Masters of Fine Arts from Dowling College (NY). Roberts was an art teacher in the East Islip School District on Long Island in the 1960s. During that time, she designed a series of geometric mosaic murals for the Municipal Swimming Pool Center in Babylon, NY with American Olean Tile. Roberts worked at The Museums at Stony Brook (NY) and was a featured weekly editorial cartoonist for The Village Times newspaper on Long Island, NY. She taught macrame classes at the Crafts Center at the Museums at Stony Brook, as well as a variety of art classes for the continuing education programs in the Port Jefferson school district. Roberts illustrated numerous textbooks for both MIT and Rutgers University professors, which are still used today. Roberts has had art exhibitions at SUNY Stony Brook Staller Center, as well as participating in the Gallery North summer art shows on Long Island. Roberts has worked in a number of genres, including oil painting, welding, mixed media, plexiglass, collage, pen & ink and silver jewelry. Roberts has been a member of the Gateway East Art Guild.
