Norberto Carating (b. 1948) Abstract Landscape signed (bottom) mixed media on canvas 24” x 24” (61 cm x 61 cm) A strong force in the Philippine nonrepresentational art scene, multi- awarded artist Norberto Carating creates works that have deep and meditative nature. For this work, he utilized the circle, a predominant universal visual motif that symbolizes both infinity and eternity. Metallic acrylic is masterfully used on canvas to achieve visual compactness and elegance in coherence and texture. Later on, this master abstractionist had his solo exhibit “Lunar Cycle” at the Galerie Joaquin in which both the circle and the square were used for the series. Carating studied at the UP College of Fine Arts under the foremost Filipino abstract expressionist Jose Joya, and he has exhibited his works in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, Germany, Cuba, Canada and the U.S. Estimate: USD $800-$1040 Euros €666.66-€866.66
