Oil and mixed media on canvas. Signed lower center: “Hořánek 65”. A characteristic example of a mature painting by the underappreciated Czech printmaker and artist Jaroslav Hořánek. This harmonious, sophisticated, well-composed work embodies the artist's fully developed sense for dividing up the space and surface, testifying to his lifelong inclination for expressive forms and innovative color. This case is an excellent example of his abstract artistry. The work is in the original housing of a collage frame.
