Condition: The box is in very good condition, showing only the lightest wear from storage. The dimensions are 5 x 21 x 17 cm. Wim Delvoye (b. 1965) Born in Flanders, Wim Delvoye was raised in a Catholic family, which was to influence significantly his art. In his early work, the autodidact overpainted wallpaper and carpets, defining himself a conceptual artist. He gained international notoriety with the installation ‘Mosaic’, which he presented at the documenta IX. Furthermore, he caught the public’s attention in 2000 with his installation ‘Cloaca’, a ‘digestive machine’, as well as with the project ‘Art Farm’, for which he tattooed pigskins. Delvoye is now reckoned to a generation of Flemish artists who revolutionized contemporary art; these include Luc Tuymans, Jan Fabre and Alain Patel. In Delvoye's works can often be recognized influences of paintings by old masters, particularly from Jan Brueghel, where trivial issues such as sexuality and eating is connected with religious and political aspects. Aesthetic opposites are supposed to irritate and to question conventional values. Delvoye has exhibited internationally, including the Louvre in Paris, the Guggenheim in Venice, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City.
