The paper is a bit wavy in the margins due to the mounting. There is minor wear in few spots to the edges, in the upper corner with minor loss of material. In the lower left is a c. 7.5 cm long tear which is repaired due to the mounting. Apart from that of very good impression. The image measures 50 x 40 cm. Franz Kline (1910-1962) The US-American painter Franz Kline studied at the School of Fine and Applied Arts and the University of Boston in the 1930s. In 1937, he began studying at the Heatherly School of Fine Arts in London. In 1938, he went to New York and set up his own studio. In the 1950s, he taught at various institutions, the Black Mountain College, the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and the Philadelphia Museum School of Art. Franz Kline exhibited at the documenta several times. Many of his works are on display in major museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the MoMA in New York, the Kunstmuseum in Basel and the Tate Gallery in London.
