Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994) Alighiero Boetti was born in Turin. Early on he was widely interested in mathematics, philosophy, music, alchemy and esotericism, as well as the art of Lucio Fontana and Wols. As an artist Boetti was self-taught. In 1967 he became a member of the Arte Povera movement and created works with industrial materials. After backing out of Arte Povera in 1972 the visualization of opposites characterize his work. In addition to many exhibitions at international museums, Alighiero Boetti was represented at the documenta 5 and 7 and several times at the Venice Biennale.
