Trees in a landscapeSigned mixed media on cardProvenance: Belfast, 1997/98. Markey Robinson was present at the auction and died the following year, January 28, 1999. The auction featured his own personal collection of favourites, that he still owned at that stage.Robinson was a painter, sculptor and stained glass designer. He was born in Belfast and trained at the Belfast College of Art. His paintings for the most part depict landscape scenes in Ireland, but he also painted marine and still-life subjects. He became widely known to the public and art critics with over twenty one-man exhibitions at the Oriel Gallery in Dublin. He also exhibited at the RHA.
