"Palette I"is an etching on Fabriano paper, and "Palette III" is a multiple wood palette with paint. In a seemingly backwards manner, the colored paint is introduced with care in only a few places, creating a frozen atmosphere to the palette, while the etching's composition is dynamic and loose. Executed in 1969, each print measures 28 x 20 inches and is framed. Four Paletteswas published by Petersburg Press. Jim Dine (AMERICAN, 1935) Jim Dine is most famous for his work in American Pop Art. His works were included in the New Painting of Common Objects exhibit in the Norton Simon Museum. This exhibit is considered one of the first Pop Art exhibits in America. Dine initially produced art with objects from everyday life and eventually moved to sculpture where he focused on nature. Dine's work can be found in the British Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim.
