The current highest auction record for a painting by Miguel Macaya is more than €5,000 The present still life by Miguel Macaya Ortiz (born 1964) is a characteristic work of the Spanish painter in his typical reduced and symbol charged style of painting. The center of the work is an open cracked egg. A thin branch from the nest appears behind it. The abstract, partly translucent background turns from earth tones at the bottom to a deep black above. Macaya's paintings only show the detail of an event. The recourse to the traditions of Spanish painting is just as typical in his works as the highly suggestive play of light. The painting is signed with 'Miguel Macaya' at the center of the lower margin. It is mounted under glass and framed in a black wooden frame. It is in good overall condition. The paper is a bit waved and there are traces of a former mounting to the corners. The frame is slightly chipped to the edges. The overall dimensions, including the frame, are 115 x 98.5 cm. The sheet dimensions are 83 x 69.5 cm. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity published by the Galería Jorge Alcolea in 2004.
