After his eleven-year sojourn in New York, he processed his impressions in his cityscapes - this work is such an example. The outlines of Manhattan's skyscrapers are visible in the background, whilst the Brooklyn Bridge is looming the foreground. The composition is incredibly dynamic - from the diagonal bridge, to the contrasting colors and the expressive lines. The work is in very good condition. It is signed and dated lower right with 'Fetting 99' and titled lower center with 'Brooklyn bridge'. The dimensions of the sheet are 56.1 x 76.5 cm and the overall dimensions, framed are 83.5 x 101 cm. Rainer Fetting (1949) Rainer Fetting studied at the University of Arts in Berlin under Karl Horst Hödicke and Hans Jaenisch. After his studies he and some of his fellow students established the group "Neue Wilde" ("New Savages"). Fetting's art concentrated on city scenes, portraits and figurations, he thereby experimented with bright colours. He works have been shown internationally in many museums, for example at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Tate Gallery in London, the Berlin Martin-Gropius-Bau, the Kunsthalle Basel, the MOMA in New York, and at the Russian State Museum in St. Petersburg, as well as in galleries in Europe and America.
