RED GROOMS (b. 1937): "THE GREAT TRANSACTION" Painted plywood construction with mixed media including fabric, wire mesh, metal sheeting, marker and oil paint, signed in marker and dated '75/'81. 33 1/4 x 75 5/8 x 37 5/8 in. Note: The Great Transaction was conceived in 1975 as part of the Ruckus Manhattan project, representing, chronologically, an early scene in the artist's historical pageant of Manhattan history. It was completed in 1981 in time for an exhibition of Ruckus Manhattan, held at the Fisher Brothers Building. Avenue of the Americas and 54th Street, in conjunction with Creative Time. Provenance: Private Collection (acquired directly from the artist), acquired from the preceding by the present owner.
