Lot of 7 US Army Military Holster's to include 1) WW1 US ARMY M1911 LEATHER HOLSTER ROCK ISLAND 1917. A stitched, tan leather constructed holster with thigh strap. The fold over flap with "U.S." within an oval is embossed to the surface, mates with a brass stud. To the reverse is the belt attachment that swivels on a brass button that allows for easy movement. A shaped block of leather is sewn to the interior that allows the butt of the pistol to sit away from the body of the pouch, therefore allowing the pistol be pulled from the holster with ease when required. Maker marked Rock Island Arsenal and dated for 1917. Excellent. 2) WWII US ARMY M1916 COLT PISTOL HOLSTER BOYT 42 WW2. Brown leather holster with blackened brass fittings for the M1911A1 .45 caliber automatic pistol. The top fold-over flap has "US" within a horizontal oval embossed to it and single stud hole. Both the obverse and reverse base of the holster body has a brass ventilation grommet. The reverse features a riveted leather section with two vertical slashes to draw a belt through, surmounted by a brass hook for the same purpose. Between the vertical slashes is impressed "BOYT 44". The interior of the holster has a built-up section, evidently for positioning the pistol more securely. All of the stitching is intact. Excellent. The standard holster for the M1911 Colt pistol was first developed in 1916 and remained in production for the US Army all the way to 1945.
