Primarily of brass, chased overall with symmetrical arabesque decoration. Set with a central copper spike surrounded by three copper bosses, all of which are similarly decorated to the rest of the shield. The verso has two metal bands that act as the handle, underneath which is a small dark purple fabric-wrapped cushion meant to protect the user's hands. India - 19th century.
