An atlas portatif designed for military use. An enlarged issue of the 1748 edition from which it differs by the greater number of maps: the previous edition included only 128 and the title page was on a double page. The final section of the work includes maps of the Western Hemisphere dated 1749. Oblong folio (236 x 363mm). Engraved title, 209 engraved maps as per index, many handcoloured in outline and one folding (browning and foxing, index leaves worn). Contemporary calf, spine decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers, gilt edges (worn, cover and endpapers detached). Si tratta di una tiratura ampliata rispetto a quella del 1748, dalla quale si distingue per il numero maggiore di carte: l’edizione precedente ne comprendeva solo 128 e il frontespizio era su doppia pagina. L’ultima sezione dell’opera comprende carte dell’emisfero occidentale datate 1749. Folio oblungo (236 x 363mm). Frontespizio inciso in rame, 209 mappe incise come da indice, molte delle quali colorate a mano nei confini e una ripiegata (bruniture e fioriture, carte con indice rovinate). Pelle coeva, dorso decorato in oro, sguardie marmorizzate, tagli dorati (molto rovinata, copertina e sguardie distaccate, gravi difetti).
