America sends France its wishes of, "faith, courage, and patience" across the Atlantic in this rare WWI poster. Uncle Sam looks over the ocean, his eyes downcast and woeful as his wishes spread towards France in red and white stripe beacons of hope. In the foreground, the brutal reality of wartime France is on display; a woman draped in the French flag weeps over a tombstone, as a bloody battle unfolds. It is likely she is Marianne, the personification of France (as Uncle Sam is to America). The Harriman National Bank was formed in 1911 and was run by Joseph Wright Harriman, a descendant of a railroad tycoon who went on to be convicted of fraud after the stock market crash of 1929. The bank folded around the same time, in 1934. This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
