A REVERSE GLASS PICTURE OF NELSON’S LYING IN STATE, 1806 A REVERSE GLASS PICTURE OF NELSON’S LYING IN STATE, 1806 titled ‘Representation of the Body of the Late Illustrious Admiral Lord Nelson laying in State in the Painted Hall of Greenwich Hospital’, published in March 1806 by Stampa & Son, 74, Leather Lane, framed -- 19 x 15in. (48 x 38 cm.); together with another reverse glass picture of ‘Britannia lamenting the Death of Admiral Lord Nelson [etc]’ depicting Britannia beside a monument to Nelson, published 5 December 1805, framed and with label on reverse stating ‘Given by Terence Rattigan to Zoe Caldwell on the 1st Night of his play “Bequest to the Nation" in which she played Lady Hamilton’ -- 18 x 14in. (46 x 36 cm.) (2) ‘A Bequest to the Nation’ by Terence Rattigan opened at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket on 23 September 1970 with Zoe Caldwell playing Lady Hamilton and Ian Holm as Lord Nelson. Both in good condition.
