Triangular blade measures 18", overall length 21". Ricasso marked "U.S." Socket with rotating locking ring and reinforced bridge. Accompanied by metal scabbard with belt stud. Standard issue for the Springfield Trapdoor rifle in .45-70 Government, used through the Indian Wars and into the Spanish-American War period. Oxidation and patina consistent with age.
