작품 상세

Bell from HMS P229, A U-Class sub. Fitted with a four canon crown mount cast into the bell. Deeply engraved with red letters. HMS P229 was a British U-class submarine built during World War II. She was launched in 1942 at Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, and was later commissioned into the Royal Navy. Like other U-class boats, she displaced around 540 tons surfaced, carried four bow torpedo tubes, and was designed primarily for operations in the confined waters of the North Sea and Mediterranean. P229 was renamed HMS Sportsman shortly after her commissioning, continuing the wartime practice of giving submarines distinctive names instead of just numbers. She served with distinction, conducting patrols and sinking enemy shipping in the Mediterranean theater. After the war, in 1948, she was transferred to the French Navy and renamed Syrene, where she served into the 1950s before being withdrawn from service. 26 lbs. 11" H x 10 1/2" Diameter.
