작품 상세

Royal Navy ship's bell engraved "HMS" Claverhouse", cast with a four canon crown, an engraved Broad Arrow on rear. HMS Claverhouse was not a seagoing warship but rather a shore establishment of the Royal Navy, based at Leith, Scotland, during the Second World War. Commissioned in 1939, she served as the headquarters for the Royal Naval Patrol Service (RNPS) in the Firth of Forth. From this base, large numbers of trawlers, drifters, and small auxiliary vessels were manned and dispatched for minesweeping, anti-submarine patrol, and escort work. The training and operations directed from Claverhouse were vital to Britain's defense, particularly in keeping coastal waters and convoy routes around Scotland safe from mines and U-boat activity. After the war, the establishment was paid off in 1945, and the buildings later passed to the Sea Cadet Corps, who still use them today. 26 lbs. 11" H x 10 1/2" Diameter.
