Leica IIIc K Grey Wehrmacht Heer Nr. 391559 with 50mm Summitar f2 Heer Nr. 579508. A late wartime military camera, this camera was delivered on December 5, 1944. The camera top plate bears the engraving “W.H.” under the makers mark, which stand for “Wehrmacht Heer,” or “Army Forces.” Behind the shutter special triangular tabs can be seen on the film gate, called “fiducial marks,” which were used for calibrating the camera’s photographs to maps. These wartime cameras with fiducial marks had one clear purpose: photogrammetry for reconnaissance. The lens is also engraved “Heer” on the lens mount. Also included are lens shade SOOPD, 90mm Elmar f4 Nr. 592690, 135mm Hektor f4,5 Nr. 590969, close-focus adapter NOOKY, and universal viewfinder VIOOH. A rare wartime set.
