This is a photo of George Armstrong Custer from the E. & H. T. Anthony Studios in New York likely 1864. The photo is labeled as "Brig. Major Gnrl. Custer" and is listed in the Katz book of 1985 as K-29. Note that his uniform lacks any decorations in the photo so it is not his wedding picture. It appears that Custer visited a number of photography studios the week of Feb.13-17, 1864; Brady, Anthony, and Mora. The Anthony Bros. also supplied photography materials to Matthew Brady and Brady in return may have given the Anthony Bros. duplicate negatives in exchange.
